A research blog on collective action, social innovation and resilient communities and cities

Casie goes to Singapore!

The time has come. For the next two months, the Asia Research Institute, ARI at the National University of Singapore will be hosting CASIE. The stay in Singapore aims to explore the importance of neighbourhood collective action and social innovation in building resilient communities in the city.

In addition to the ethnographic fieldwork and research on resilient communities in Singapore, the stay will also serve as secondment at ARI, which is regarded as one of the foremost research organisations in the field of historical and contemporary scholarship on Asia.

Next week, CASIE will participate in the ARI seminar on Korean neighbourhoods beyond Korea. The seminar will focus on Korean neighbourhoods in Seoul, Kyoto and Hanoi as distinctive places with strong social networks and distinct identities, as well as sites of community building, social learning and social innovation, local entrepreneurship, and collective consumption in the city.

More news on the CASIE’s stay and research progress in Singapore is forthcoming. Stay tuned for updates…

Meanwhile, happy lunar New Year!
