People

BLAŽ KRIŽNIK is the principal researcher of CASIE. He is a guest Associate Professor at the Department of Asian Studies, University of Ljubljana. He holds a Ph.D. in urban sociology from the University of Ljubljana. Blaž was an associate professor at the Graduate School of Urban Studies, Hanyang University. He has also worked as a researcher at the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia in Barcelona, the Seoul Development Institute, the Seoul National University Asia Center and the Institute for Spatial Policies in Ljubljana, and as a visiting professor at the University of Seoul and Kwangwoon University. His research interests include comparative urban studies, sociology of urban social movements, and Korean studies.

NATAŠA VISOČNIK GERŽELJ is the supervisor of CASIE. She is an Associate Professor at the Department of Asian Studies, University of Ljubljana. Nataša holds a Ph.D. in ethnology and cultural anthropology from the University of Ljubljana. Her research interests include identity issues in Japan, including identity processes, minority issues, marginality, religion and civil society movements. She is also interested in the anthropology of the body and space.

HO KONG CHONG will serve as the co-supervisor of CASIE. He is an Associate Professor and the head of Urban Studies Programme at the YaleNUS College in Singapore. His research interests are in neighbourhood and community development, heritage and place-making, the political economy of cities as well as in higher education.

MARKO PETERLIN will oversee the dissemination of the research outcomes and the uptake of CASIE in society. He holds a Master’s degree from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia in Barcelona. Marko is an architect and urban planner, and serves as a director of the Institute for Spatial Policies, the leading Slovene NGO in the field of community development and sustainable spatial development. His professional interests include sustainable mobility and governance.
