CASIE aims to promote the uptake of research in society through knowledge exchange and collaboration between the academia, communities, civil society, and the public sector. Social learning and transformative education are important means to achieve this goal.
In the coming weeks, Blaž will talk to the pupils of Primary School in Trnovo, architecture students at the University of Ljubljana, and mentors at the Slovenian Institute for Adult Education about the ongoing research on social innovation and resilient communities and cities.
The lectures will address the social relevance of research and teaching on climate and social change, the resilient communities and cities, the research approaches and methodologies, and the practical significance of CASIE.
The lecture at the Slovenian Institute for Adult Education will use Seoul in South Korea as a case study to discuss the challenges and importance of community building in deprived neighbourhoods for building inclusive and resilient communities and cities. It is organised for the mentors of the Study Circles, an initiative that promotes intergenerational cooperation and transformative education in local communities to adapt to climate and social change.
While discussions with pupils and students are important, Study Circles, with its focus on social innovation and local communities, seems like a great fit for CASIE, and an opportunity for knowledge exchange and collaboration.
The online lecture Community building and neighbourhoods in South Korea will take place on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at the the Slovenian Institute for Adult Education in Ljubljana.
